I am an experienced CDL driver with a clean driving record and good background. The problem is my husband who just got his CDL last month. He received a speeding ticket in October in a car going 84 in a 65 mph speed limit. I am currently employed but I would be willing to team with him if it would open any doors for employment for him. We live in Georgia about 1 hour south of Atlanta. Let me know if you can help us out.

He is a recent grad with a reckless (15 mph or over ) correct? OK fisr have you tried defensive driving to get it off his record? The first step is to get it off his record, and if we cant ... we will go from there..

Thanks for the quick response. I think that here in Georgia the defensive driving course will only remove the 3 points but not the ticket itself. I'm not certain on this so I will check on Monday.

Yes check that and get back with me... most states will remove the ticket itself because its a SPEEDING TICKET not a reckless driving... the trucking industry considers them reckless.... keep me posted

I called two state approved defensive driving school this morning. I was told that the class will only remove the points. The ticket will still remain on the driving record.

OK , so he has the hard part behind him, but hasnt gotten any prehires? Correct? Ok have you tried your company, and have you exhausted all avenues the school offers to get newbies a job? If so what companies have turned him down so far? That will give me an idea where to send you guys next...

I had him all set up to work for the company I drive for (FedEx Ground Contractor) before I knew about that ticket. He didn't tell me about the ticket when he first got it. He just paid the ticket without being aware of the consequences. If I had known about it I would have told him to see a lawyer to get it reduced or removed.

So far he his been rejected by Werner, Pam, Stevens, KLLM, TransAm. Swiift went back more than 3 on the tickets. I've left messages with CRST and Crete. Todayhe put in online apps with FFE, Willis Shaw and May trucking. It is not mandatory that we team. I'm willing to team if it helps him get in the door to get experience. Thanks in advance.

SpeciaID: He just paid the ticket without being aware of the consequences. If I had known about it I would have told him to see a lawyer to get it reduced or removed.

THAT is a shame that he didn't want to fight it. I hope if he EVER again gets a speeding ticket that he fight it and not simply pay it straight away. It's CHEAPER overall to acquire Counsel and fight these tickets than to accept them without a challenge in court since the driving record is yours.
I received a trumped up speeding ticket in a 4 wheeler (In a 45mph zone--the vehicle in front was going 67 and I was going 49 yet I got the safety award) and I went to a Traffic Lawyer and for a mere $500.00 (Lawyer fee, Court and Fine cost), the charge was reduced to Improper Equipment--Speedometer. That is what is on my state MVR. I also had the information corrected/updated on my DAC-USIS record/file.

TEAM driving may very well be the only alternative and I hope you both succeed!
