The only reason I started this message board

Postby Ole Wise Kidd on Mon Nov 09, 2009 11:53 pm

The reason I added this message board to my web site is to get good information out to drivers in every aspect of trucking. A wide open board that is 100% free, no cost, good information to drivers, and drivers input on companies ect. with no spam everywhere. I try to keep the best information possible and get information out to ANYONE that needs it... Keep in mind everything I do here on this board is on my own free time. What I am getting at is that there should be no reason this board is not booming with members discussing topics, inviting friends to chat, and small companies and owner operators from around the country to join up and post!! I need everyone's help, to get the word out about this board....and it starts with YOU. There is a lot of very good information here and it seems as of lately its just going to waste, SO PLEASE tell everyone you know about this board and let get it back to where we had 30 members at the same time chatting and discussing here... I made it just for you guys and gals, so please help me to get this thing going again!!!! Copy and paste this link and send it to everyone you know that might be interested !!!

I don't like spamming so if we get this going by word of mouth that would be great...

Thank you all and GOD bless everyone this holiday season..

It seems like this is a very good source for information. My wife and I had considered attending a school in Hansonville, VA but didn't know if we should go there to attend a driving school or if I should apply to a company to get training. I'm wanting to pursue a new career where as I've always worked in a family owned business. You seem to be very knowledgable the trucking industry. Any advice?

Always if possible attend a school yourself, just make sure its a reputable school, that way you will have a choice as where you go to work, company paid training is always a last resort... go the grant way first.

Hey Ole Wise Kidd -

Thanks for this great resource. I just found it today.

I'm new to trucking. I just got my Class A with all the endorsements and looking for my first full-time driving gig. I've been pulling heavy ball-hitch trailers for two years so I have had a taste of the life and I love it. Through the licensing process I discovered that 60% of the 600+ loads I have pulled have been out of class since they were trailers over 10,000 pounds... :) At least I don't have to worry about that any more...

Anyway, I'll contribute when I can and hopefully make some new friends and get some much-needed advice!

Thanks - LI Trucker...

Hello ajspeedtruck,

You drove while being a Wrench?
How much time actually driving?
Did you cross a minimum of 5 State lines (as I've seen on some applications)?
I was a Wrench for a little while and as well drove trucks (very local) yet such experience wasn't useful for most OTR companies. Smaller Trucking Companies may well be able to utilize your experience yet such is not a statement that you'll be hired.

I believe the Grandfather clause had been eliminated some time ago, so without some (goofy) training school or working at a Nationally known company (jb hunt, swift, werner, etc.), I will say your chance is minimal IF at all, however I've been known to be incorrect.

Personally I suggest staying with being a Wrench and test driving as there are less hassles involved with the upcoming csa2010 insanity.
I hope the BEst uv WELLness 2-u-n-urs-n ALL adventures!!
I hope you comprehend what I'm posting because sometimes I wonder......or wander.
