Runnin' Outa Time...Need Help!

Postby mr.boston62 on Thu Aug 20, 2009 6:47 pm

Sure hope someone can help me here. My wife and I moved to the Carolina's 2 1/2 yrs ago, since then I've been laid-off 3 times...Oooops! I've worked hard all my adult life trying to provide for my family, often times making sacrifices so they could have. My situation is this: I've had my cdl A since "92". On 07/01/94 I got a DUI in Mass, was dismissed and reinstated on 09/06/94. Then on 10/23/96 I recieved a DUI in FL. Well upon being laid-off here in NC, I decided to try and utilize my cdl and go back to school for retraining through the WIA program. Now I'm being told by the person who did the intake/interveiw that I need a pre-hire in order to have the funds released for enrollment......because now it is showing BOTH DUI's on my mvr! 1.) Am I waisting my time thinking I could get back into trucking? And 2.) Is it possible to get a pre-hire to get the ball rollin'? I'm at my wits end. Yeah, I know I screwed up acouple times (believe me, I know what SHAME feels like) but I've never had a speeding ticket or any other citation in my life and have never done drugs of any kind. I truly do appreciate any feed back you could give me,I thank you for your time.
There's no such thing as"set in your ways"....you can always smartin' up!

Those DUI's are over 10 years old correct?? If that is the case you shouldnt have a problem with them... try getting a pre hire from USA truck ask for Heather in student recruiting and tell het that you need a pre hire before you can get your training. Make sure you give a complete work history and fill in all gaps... let me know if that works.
