You use the truck if you are away from home. Just drop the trailer in a approved spot and go to town. Just remember, no drive-thru's!

HI thanks for the answer that is what i thought to but the owner of this site said you cant do that , that the companies dont allow it in their trucks. I though they would how else could you get around. So you say the companines allow you to use the truck on the road to go to town or what ever then? Thanks

I would trust what long hauler said, he has been a driver for sometime now, and he wouldn't mislead you. I just automatically assumed most people have their own form of transportation and I would rather not drive my company truck unless absolutely necessary because anything can happen.

I am not saying that you can use it as a personal vehicle, just for when you are away from your hometown.

When out on the road and taking a couple days off try to make it at a company terminal most companies like schnieder have loaner cars just let your dispatcher know want you want to do and he should know if your company has this option.

Some Companies have a specific alloted mileage (40 miles) when OFF DUTY, some have no specific mileage.
There is NO COMPANY that can restrict their Drivers from using the Tractor for needs to be met such as Food, Clothing, etc.
Just DO NOT ABUSE the ability.

I've spent much time OFF DUTY (say, in San Antonio or El Paso, Texas) and far away from Home (N.C.) and had never been questioned about using the truck for purposes other than hauling freight.

My biggest deal with trucking is that I never spent quality time at places I WANTED TO BE because I was stuck as usual at places I DIDN'T WANT TO BE which is so normal in Trucking.

Have FUN, keep the shiny side up and between the culverts.
I hope the BEst uv WELLness 2-u-n-urs-n ALL adventures!!
I hope you comprehend what I'm posting because sometimes I wonder......or wander.

You used the correct words, ScrewDriver. "Just DO NOT ABUSE the ability."

Amen to that. Sad so many driver do abuse this and those who don't suffer because of it.

Ride safe and safe journey to everyone,
