Termination

Postby dacfix on Mon Dec 07, 2009 4:10 pm

Many times when I am talking to drivers they will say that they can not gain employment due to a termination that is listed on their DAC reports, however, they quit and were not let go.

A termination will keep you from obtaining employment with most carriers. In this situation, we would look to have the disposition changed to read "Quit/Driver Terminated Lease" which will not effect a driver the same way as that termination.

While each case we take on is unique in it's own way, we have helped thousands of drivers get back to work. Having a problem, give us a call 800-494-7517.

Many times carriers will list many things on a driver's DAC report that is not the truth, such as excessive complaints. We deal with at least one excessive customer complaint issue weekly and are able to get these removed fairly quickly.

Please feel free to give me a call with any specific questions that you may have regarding this.

I was terminated from Schneider for a jackknife accident, they said because of company policy violation. I've been off the road for almost 2 years, and no luck finding any driving job. I've talked to several companies and told them it was non-preventable, because I did what I was trained to do. No other vehicles or people were involved, and I was not charged with the accident. I don't have the money to get my DAC report looked at or fixed at this time. I've been told different stories about the jackknife. I've heard that accidents stay on DAC for 3-7 years, or they stay on forever. I had 2 minors, and 1 has been removed, or at least I was told it was removed. Talked to Hirschbach Motors last year and they were gonna hire me, but I had some other things to take care of before I could go to work for them. Now they say they can't hire me, but won't tell me why.. I know the jackknife and termination look bad, but how can a felon or a driver who's wrecked and run into stuff all the time keep driving? Overall I'm a safe driver, was never late for a load, no complaints. But this accident has screwed me up... I'm just looking for a shot to get back out there and be safe and responsible. Is there anything I can do?? I applied to a couple of companies, and they're telling me I have to wait 6 months before they can hire me. That's fine, I don't mind waiting 6 months, but I don't want to wait and then not get hired because of that accident. So, any advice??? thanks...

In this situation I advise many drivers to do one of two things: drive local such as rock or cement truck or warehouse job to be able to have the funds to dispute the information. As you can see, it does affect drivers in a very negative way and makes it near impossible to drive for anyone. The unfortunate thing is the carrier does not care how it affects drivers. This would be my advise. In addition, the fact that you haven't driven in 2 years may also be a factor. It is not hopeless but there needs to be something done about your DAC report.

I recently got a free copy of my DAC report and found out that my former carrier listed two things that are inaccurate:

1. That I was terminated. In reality I resigned due to the fact that they wouldn't allow me to deadhead back home (from Reading, PA to Pittsburgh) in order to attend to a medical emergency regarding my father).

2. Late delivery/pickup. When I first got my own truck they put me on a team board when I was a solo driver. Of course, a solo driver can't make the same time as a team. It took me a while to figure out why I had to re-power my loads halfway through a trip. When the issue was straightened out and they put me on a solo dispatch board but never removed the delivery failures from my record.

I already filed a dispute with Hireright and am waiting to see how it goes. I talked to someone at Hireright and they haven't heard back from the company yet and that the company has x number of days to respond and if they don't the bad info will be removed from my record. I guess at this point I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
