i just hired on with stevens,just looking for input on this company

I have heard very mixed opinions, but mostly ... pay sucks, and they have nice trucks.... please keep us posted as to how they treat you! Welcome to the board !

thanks for the reply,and yes the pay does suck,for the first 9 weeks you are on a salary for onlu 350 dollars a week,then they start you at 26 cpm,i know i hate the fact that you have to stay out 9 weeks before you get any home time,is this normal for all trucking companies that offer training.

No 4 to 6 weeks is normal, but WOW 26CPM THAT IS A JOKE !!! I know drivers that made that in the 80's You need to get your time in and get out of there ASAP... but tough it out and get your time in , then you can make some money after a year if you keep your nose clean

Bobby, not all companies are like that. I got hired with PAM and been out for 5wks for training but should of been 4wks but since my trainer took four days off for the Christmas Holidays. I had to stay out a bit longer. I didn't mind just because he lives about a mile away from me.

When I graduated on 10/30/09 from Roadmaster. I got a pre-hire from Stevens and was told that you had to have the HazMat Endorsement; which wasn't a problem, I planed on getting it anyways and also you had to stay out for 27-28 days and home for 2-3. Which to me pretty much sucked.

But most companies start you out with a crappy trainee pay and a low .26 CPM. It's the norm until you get your experience. I was told first year is always the hardest. I am glad PAM raises the cpm every 3 months. But it is the lumps and bumps we inexperienced drivers have to go throw at first.
