2 year old DWI, employment history gaps

Postby johnrturner on Mon Jan 04, 2010 4:41 pm

I have a two year old DWI, and cannot document two gaps in my employment history since then. One of the gaps is 7 months; the other is about that long. I've got my class A back, and I've graduated from an intensive alcohol rehabilitation program. I also have 6 years of good OTR experience. Can you tell me what my best bet is, in finding a driving job ASAP? Thanks.

Hello johnturner,

Being as I have a DUI from '91 still being a problem with some companies, I suggest you follow the advice given by Old Wise Kidd and check out your state office of the Employment Security Commission for information.
I have been checking such office here in the Triad of NC and as well checking Craigslist for NC.
IF you received the DWI WITH the class A License, you're then pretty much out of luck regardless of the Alcohol Rehab Program. A DWI/DUI on a class C License is bad enough (like mine was), BUT on a class A License it is worse.
There may however be some viable routes as other People with far more serious convictions have regained their driving professions.

This site IS one of the better few with relevant information and people that ACTUALLY CARE and WANT TO HELP.
I just signed on yesterday yet I see such help already as has been offered and will be offered.

Most companies state No DWI/DUI within the preceeding 3, 5, 7, 10 years HOWEVER there are some availabilities yet one needs do some intense research/investigating. This site WILL help.
There are as well unscrupulous companies so beware (which means be aware).

As to the gaps in employment history, well, a lot of People have such and I am one.
One company in '08 could not verify a 30 day period in the 10 year work history, so they stated because of the gap they could not hire me. 9 years and 11 Months were covered, but 1 month tossed the whole picture out, so go figure.
I've successfully covered most of the gaps with extended times of companies that no longer exist however this tactic is NOT suggested as it works for some and doesn't work for some.
I have one gap last year from January to April and hopefully it will not be repeated this year.
The big slap in the face recently has been the introduction through some companies of the applicant having to VERIFY past employers that have gone out of business by presenting letters corroborating the applicant actually worked at said companies either through friends or past employers.

I hope something in this post helps you.
I hope the BEst uv WELLness 2-u-n-urs-n ALL adventures!!
I hope you comprehend what I'm posting because sometimes I wonder......or wander.
